"Despite my Google name, my name is Jenea G.A. I have been a patient of Dr. Maxwell’s for about three years. He got me on track and got my gut healing a couple of years ago but I have found myself struggling again. I have been struggling for months with vomiting and nausea and severe stomach pain. "I've been a patient of Dr. Jones for over 10 years. Some years I may see him a time or two for routine checks - other years visits may be a bit more frequent when needed. He is patient with my questions and when we need to try something different I am part of the decision making process. "Dr Krishnamurthy (Dr K) and her staff at Utah Gastroenterology made an unpleasant medical procedure extremely comfortable, entertaining and informative. The staff is well versed in how to deal with a great variety of personalities with there patients. They could tell right away that I’m the person who wants to crack a few jokes, ask some medical questions and get straight answers. Be aware of how you fill out all the forms, they really do read them. One of the questions they asked: “How do you want to be addressed?” Well I’m never in charge at home so I said: “Commander”. Guess who they called when it was time for me to go into prep? I loved all the disclaimer’s they’ll tell you about, especially the: “Don’t sign any contracts, and have a designated driver to take you home”…heck they followed me out to the parking lot and had my son sign that he was driving and watch out for me over the next couple of hours to make sure I had no complications from the procedure. Now that’s service. Because of my age and family history I need to have a colonoscopy every 5 yrs. You can bet that I will be going back to Dr K. and her staff of professionals."

Now I’m seeing Dr Christopher Maxwell. He’s a great listener, fast typer, and above all, great at determining the root cause of an issue. So, I’m sticking with him. I had a terrible Nissen Fundoplication, aka it’s where the surgeon wraps your stomach around your esophagus like a hot dog in a bun to control reflux from a hiatal hernia. I don’t think this procedure is done anymore but if you run into a gastroenterologist or surgeon who recommends it, RUN AWAY as fast you can. I've changed the way I eat and take the things she suggested and the issues I was having are no longer going on. There was only one issue. My first appointment was 3 months out. Due to an emergency I had to cancel. She understood and was able to schedule me a month out due to a cancelation. Then they had to reschedule me. Then they called again and said they had to reschedule me. Then called (the poor receptionist sounded frustrated) and simply said " she said she's only working a few hours that day". She said she would put me at the top of the list if there's a cancelation. I ended up waiting until my appointment came. It was worth it in the end."
"I’ve been with Dr. Pedersen for 16 years now. I’m 50 years old I got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 24 years old. Before finding Dr. Pedersen I had at least six different gastroenterologist in the Davis county area. And I can honestly say none of them were even close to the caliber of Dr. Pedersen. When one of them that I had seen before asked me how I was feeling and I said about 70% he said, well that’s better than 60%. Very frustrating to hear. The first time I met with Dr. Pedersen he looked me in the eye and said we fight this disease together. And he has done that with me for the last 16 years. He treats you like an equal never condescending, never looks down on you and is genuinely interested in how you are feeling and is personable which is definitely a plus. He is a great doctor and it wouldn’t be fair at all if I didn’t mention the nurse that as is his right hand, Whitney. Whitney is solid she always calls back and she always gets the job done whether it be a health or finance question, never leave you hanging at all. She is A+ just like dr. Pedersen. Together they make an awesome team. I wouldn’t want to be with anybody else. I can’t say enough good things about both of them. My life wouldn’t be the same without them. They literally helped me get my life back when my Crohn’s disease was at its worst."

"I originally scored one star...read to the bottom: The Worst! I waited over a month for a consultation on a potentially serious medical condition, and was turned away for being 3 minutes past his 15 minute "grace" period. I was at the office at 0903 for an 0845 appointment. Dr. Frech personally refused to see me. I guess I was being punished. How often does a patient wait for a doctor? Like 100% of the time...right? I have worked in healthcare for over 50 years. I've never been so slighted. I wasn't even asked the reason why I was late. I can't deal with that kind of arrogance, so I'll go elsewhere. After a series of unusual, but not unfortunate events, I ended up back at Dr. Frech's office after an additional month of trying to get in elsewhere. This time, I arrived plenty early. I must say, after my first consult with Dr. Frech, I'm feeling like there was a reason for the roundabout that brought me back. I went from feeling disrespected to feeling like my health was his primary interest, and that he'll do everything in his power and skillset to totally evaluate my disease state, and guide me through my treatments. I like his intensity, his clear explanations, his confidence and his manner. Although I might be criticized for scoring so high this time after only one visit, but I fell that the hope and reassurance I received was worth the trust and optimism."

"I have been a patient at Utah Gastroenterolgy for almost 19 years. I have always had very positive experiences with them. The drs are very knowledgeable and they don’t make you sit and wait to eat in to see them. The last time I was there I didn’t even get my paperwork filled out and sit down before they called me back to see the dr. I originally had dr joseph who has sadly retired but I am seeing dr wills now and I am very happy with him. He is very knowledgeable and has made sure he is thorough. When I was there the last time I saw the PA Blair! She is absolutely amazing! Friendly, smart and very attentive. I spent 7 hours in the er at imc and they sent me away saying we don’t know what’s wrong so take this medicine and see your dr. This was after a cat scan of my stomach and their answer pain medication and with the stomach pain I was in they gave me medicine they said was for migraines. Then corrected themselves and said oh it works for migraines and your stomach. Needless to say I saw Blair at Utah Gastroenterolgy and she knew exactly what was wrong and gave my husband and I her full attention and explains exactly what the cat scan showed and how to fix it. I will request Blair anytime I go there I was so impressed!. Thank you! They are the best!"

It was a completely different experience. Quick, efficient, yet I was patiently given all the information I needed before and after the procedure. A prompt follow up letter explained the biopsy finding and advised a moderate treatment. Wow. Even the prep was much easier than the first time."

"I just turned 50 last May, and have been putting off having that dreaded colonoscopy. I was a bit apprehensive when they said that they would have to sedate me for the procedure. But it was painless and quick. The assistant walked me through all the steps that were going to happen. The anesthesiologist answered all my questions, and doctor Woerlein talked to me about the procedure as well. When they administered the anesthesia, I quickly fell asleep. It seemed like I just closed my eyes and then opened them and the procedure was done! No complications, no pain, to issues. The doctor found one polyp that they sent to the lab to check. Doctor Woerlein talked to me about how it went and what he found. They even provided me with snapshots of different areas of my colon (I have a beautiful colon, if I do say so myself) lol I think the only uncomfortable thing for the whole procedure was the prep…drinking that gallon of whatchamacallit! Yuk. But I added Crystal Light to it and it went down easier. An added bonus…I got caught up on some reading while I was on the “throne” clearing out my colon. :)"

"After an unexpected GI Bleed in May of 2015, I was admitted to Dixie Regional Hospital. I was bleeding terribly, and my Hematocrit level was getting lower every minute. I was scared not knowing where the bleeding was coming from. I was attended by Dr. Woerlein, who was on call from Utah Gastroenterology. He literally saved my life because he knew how to treat my symptoms with Mirolax & IV Fluids. It took 2 days & it was awful. He diagnosed me with Ischemic Colitis. I really liked Dr. Woerlein & his bed side manner & professionalism. He spent 1 hour in my Hospital explaining everything to my family. I'm in stage III Kidney Failure, & I truly needed a good Doctor. I also had a UTI. Which was scary because I had never had one before in my life. I always have regular Colonoscopy's with Dr. Bown, & I have had a good experience. But I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Woerlein this time because he was the Doctor who treated me in the Hospital. I felt he needed to further investigate my Colon after my GI Bleed in May. I also wanted to thank him for taking care of me in the Hospital. And I wanted him to see me "normal" & not looking like I was going to die. I waited a month for my Colon to heal & then called for an appointment with him. I was told I couldn't see Dr. Woerlein because Dr. Bown was my previous Doctor & Dr. Woerlein was the new Doctor & at the bottom of the Totem Pole. I told the Receptionist that it didn't make sense to me. And that I had also seen Dr. Siddoway before. So why couldn't I see the Doctor that treated me in the Hospital? She explained (very rudely) to me that's how it's done in their Clinic by seniority. I was so disappointed. I like Dr. Bown, but Dr. Woerlein treated me for my GI Bleed in the Hospital & knew of my experience with him & his genuine concern for my well being. Eventually I gave in, because I had no choice. I scheduled another Colonoscopy even though I had one in 2011. And things were fine. After my procedure Dr. Bown told me I didn't have Ischemic Colitis. And that everything looked good in my colon. He also had NO explanation for my terrible GI Bleed in May that lasted for 3 days. I appreciated Dr. Bown's kindness & directness after my procedure, & he called my diagnosis a FALSE POSITIVE...I didn't have what Dr. Woerlein had previously diagnosed me with in the Hospital. I needed a Doctor that would take me into his office & actually talk with me about my options. I've never been in any Doctor's office or exam room to have a consultation at the Clinic. That seem strange to me. Just Wam Bam, procedure & out the door extremely medicated & not remembering one thing the Doctor had discussed with me. Thank Heavens I always took someone with me to remember what took place. I am really disappointed I'm not allowed to make an appointment with the Doctor of my choice. That truly needs to be fixed in this Clinic. And a person shouldn't be made to feel not in charge of their own health needs & the Doctor they connect with & feel comfortable with! I wouldn't know Dr. Bown on the street if I saw him. I've only spent 5 minutes before & after my Colonoscopies with him. He wouldn't know me either! He's done 4 of them for me over the years. Sad, isn't it? I will still have my regular 10 year Colonoscopies, & I will try to stay on top of my health in that area. I am 70 years old now, & I want to have the peace of mind that I have Doctors looking after my needs. Plus where else can I go at my age to search for a Doctor that will really meet my needs & take the time to talk with me as their patient like Dr. Woerlein did? To bad we can't choose our own Doctor's at the Clinic & I had to be in the Hospital to meet him. But he will never become by Gastroenterology Doctor unless he moves to another Clinic. And after all this is St. George & after 28 years here I still am looking for that person. I think I've found him in Dr. Woerlein. Sincerely Kathleen Taylor"
