“I enjoy gastroenterology because of the chance it give me to make a difference in my patient’s lives. I enjoy all aspects of gastroenterology from curing hepatitis C, to managing Crohns disease and Ulcerative colitis and to diagnosing and preventing colon cancer. Gastroenterology encompasses a wide spectrum of diseases and symptoms which encourages me to stay on the forefront of knowledge as new discoveries are made every month. From a personal standpoint, my grandfather died of colorectal cancer that was diagnosed too late. If found at early stages it is curable but he did not undergo a colonoscopy until it was too late when he had symptoms. His life would have been dramatically different had the cancer been found at an earlier stage.
I grew up in Utah having attended high school, university, and medical school all here in Salt Lake City. It is a wonderful place to live, flourish, and grow. My job is to help my patients maximize their gastrointestinal health so that they can flourish in our beautiful state. Through careful one-on-one discussion and appropriate use of lab testing, radiology, and endoscopy, I will try my best to find the cause of whatever is concerning my patients. Our office is dedicated to promptly answering our patients’ concerns and questions.”

Dr Stewart is the best and the only doctor that has helped my father with his GI problems . Before Dr Stewart my dad saw many GI providers and all of them just said it was my dad’s diabetes and to continue with laxatives . Dr Steward is so knowledgeable, patient, and listen to his patients. He always tries to find solutions to my father’s problems . Now, he is in a new medication prescribed by Dr Steward and it has been the best! My father is happy and no suffering from GI problems after many years. We Highly recommended this Doctor.
I had a lot of questions before my procedure and Dr. Stewart was very helpful in answering all of them.
Great office staff easy process from walking in the door. Dr. Stewart was very personable and easy to communicate with. He explained the procedure and answered all questions. He took the time with us and that is something that does not happen to often anymore.

Let's talk about Dr Stewart. Dr Stewart, in my opinion, is everything you want in a doctor. In my visit, he made me feel so validated. I felt like I had choices, but that I could also rely on his expertise. I could rely on him, but also didn't feel forced into anything I didn't want to do.
Also, my appointment ended on a painful note, which is unusual for the procedure that I got. When he heard I was in pain, he came back and stayed with me until we had the pain under control. That night and the next two days he was the on call doctor... where not only did he insist that I could call him anytime 24/7, but HE called ME to make sure I was doing ok. And that meant SO much to me.
Walking away feeling cared for and validated. 10/10 recommend.
PS - a quick shout-out to the whole staff, everyone was kind and friendly, and I was met by so many smiles while we were there.

These guys are amazing and I love how open and honest they are. They listen to you and go over opinions. I was so nervous I had something bad going on and just to hear the good news from them was very comforting. Seriously amazing staff and doctors.

Dr. Steward - Gastroenterologist is very understanding and patient when I explain my symptoms. He is very professional and knowledgeable.
Always takes a minute to empathize with each patient. He has a marvelous PA the best in the valley as I’ve tried every GI clinic’s PAs I think. Both Dr Stuart and his PA are the best there are in the GI Specialty area of medicine and they always put themselves into the position that their patients are in and are on the cutting edge of knowledge in their specialty area of medicine.
I saw Dr. James Stewart for the first time yesterday. I have a rare multi-system connective tissue disorder that presents differently in every patient. I am *terrified of doctor appointments. Ive been avoiding GI issues for over 20 years despite several problems no other GI doc has been willing or able to help me with.
I left my appointment with him literally laughing with him and completely free from worry. He is genuinely excited to figure out my specific and very complex case. He loves the challenge and I believe wholeheartedly he genuinely cares about me and wants to make my quality of life better. He has a lot of work to do and is somehow happy about it! His being excited about it took the weight of the world from my shoulders. Today I think I’ll dare to look forward to being well enough to do the things i enjoy again.

Dr. Stewart is a great doctor, always prepared and totally charming. Too charming. I thought I was going to talk my way out of my test and I ended up leaving with an appointment and still smiling about it! He treated my Hep C and I‘ve been cured , and now I feel I can trust him with something else that other doctors couldn’t do. 👍🏼
